Bourbon Honey Lemon Shandy

Once again it has been some time since I last posted a recipe. The weather has been heating up, so I have been mostly drinking beer and the occasional gin and ginger during happy hour (yes, that’s my excuse).

Beer has never been a passion for me. I don’t prefer it over liquor or wine and I have been called lame on countless occasions for the beers I drink. So, with that in mind, I can now declare this a safe space for myself. I love wheat beers and I love bottled shandies. You cannot pass judgment because I already declared this a safe space, k?

Cinco de Mayo Libations: Clementine Tabasco Vodkarita + Michelada Mary

What’s up, everybody? I’ll tell you what’s up. It’s Cinco de Mayo, and here in America that means an excuse to go all out on margaritas and carne asada. I’m not the biggest margarita drinker in all the land (nor would I say I fit in with the Most Interesting Man in the World because when I drink beer I rarely drink Dos Equis), so I’ve come up with a few alternatives to the classic Cinco de Mayo favorite.

This first cocktail avoids tequila altogether, but will still kick you in the face if you let it. The tabasco sauce is non-negotiable. Do it; you won’t regret it.

Tangelo Shandy Cocktail

Tequila is far from my favorite spirit, but when it comes to beer cocktails I find tequila and Mexican beer are something of a match made in heaven. In this cocktail in particular, the tangelo juice and flavor of the beer will overpower the tequila, so it delivers quite the kick without the burn.
